Synopsis

A delicate mood piece.

Mathieu lives in Paris, Alice in a small seaside town in the west of France. He is in his fifties and a well-known actor. She is over forty and a piano teacher. They fell in love about fifteen years ago. Then they separated. Since then, time has passed, each has gone his own way and the wounds have gradually healed. When Mathieu comes to dilute his melancholy in the whirlpool baths of a thalassotherapy centre, he meets Alice again by chance.Writer-director Stéphane Brizé embraces the romantic genre with a sensitive direction, starring French Guillaume Canet and Italian Alba Rohrwacher in the roles of two former lovers consumed by the ghosts of their feelings.
