Biografie

Dr. Julia Effertz is an actor, screenwriter, filmmaker and certified Intimacy Coordinator, who has been pioneering Intimacy Coordination in Germany since 2019. Julia trained as an actor in Paris, Oxford and London and obtained her PhD in Comparative Literature from Oxford Brookes University. She is the author of the first German-language book on Intimacy, its depiction in film, and intimacy coordination: „Mut zur Verletzlichkeit“ (EMF-Verlag, 2024). Julia trained with IPA Los Angeles and is an accredited IC on the Sag-Aftra registry. Since 2019, she has coordinated over 60 projects for film, television, streaming platforms and stage – from Germany’s favorite crime show „Tatort“ to Emmy-Award-winning Netflix series „The Empress“. Her most recent work has seen her collaborate with Nicole Kidman on season 2 of „Nine Perfect Strangers“, theatre director Thomas Ostermeier for Berlin’s Schaubühne, and acclaimed Israeli director Hagai Levi for his latest series, „Etty“. Julia is based in Berlin and works across Europe in English, French and German. She regularly teaches Best Practice when working with Intimate Scenes at Germany’s film and drama schools.
