Lonely Castle in the Mirror (Kagami no kojô)
Synopsis
One day, the mirror in Kokoro’s bedroom begins to glow. No sooner has the young girl touched it than she finds herself pulled into a castle in a fantasy world. There, a mysterious young girl wearing a wolf mask sets her a challenge. She has a year to complete it and fulfil a wish. But Kokoro is not alone: six other teenagers share the same goal.
Based on the famous novel by Mizuki Tsujimura, this impressive visual story uses a subtly developed world to express the anguish of teenage suffering. The film provides a space for solidarity and love between characters amid existential questioning.
