Biography

Andrea Arnold is a British director and screenwriter with multiple Oscar and BAFTA awards winner, and a three-time winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes.

After several short films in the early 2000s (Milk, 1998, Dog, 2001…), she won the Oscar for Best Film for her short Wasp (2003), which established her reputation in the industry.
Gradually, her work began to focus on workers, social classes in difficulty and teenagers in search of identity. She deliberately plunges them into a grim reality where happiness eventually brightens the picture.

This reality is highlighted by the professional and non-professional actors with she usually works with, as in American Honey (2016) and Red Road (2006).
After directing episodes of series (Big Little Lies, season 2) and a documentary (Cow, 2021), she is back with her 6th feature film Bird, acclaimed at Cannes in 2024.
