Biography

Damián Szifron (July 9, 1975) is an Argentine film director and screenwriter.

In 2014, he wrote and directed RELATOS SALVAJES (Wild Tales), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for an Academy Award (Best Foreign Language Film), won the BAFTA (Best Film Not in the English Language), the Goya, and more than 40 international prizes in festivals like Toronto, San Sebastian, Telluride, Sundance, La Habana and San Pablo. It also became the most successful Argentinian film of all time.

Among his previous works are his debut film, EL FONDO DEL MAR (The Bottom of the Sea, 2003), TIEMPO DE VALIENTES (On Probation, 2005), and the multi award-winning TV series LOS SIMULADORES (The Pretenders, 2002) which was remade in many countries around the world and remains the most successful original TV series ever in Argentina.

His most recent film, MISANTHROPE (To Catch a Killer in the US), a thriller starring Shailene Woodley and Ben Mendelsohn, was released worldwide in 2023.
