Synopsis

A sensitive and insular journey where oneirism and reality collide

Nana lives on an island which is both sublime and mysterious, although increasingly deserted. Surrounded by a group of women, she grew up without her mother, who moved to the mainland when she was ill. When Nana experiences severe fevers, she is sent to receive treatment at the base of a volcano. There, she enters a world where dreams and reality coexist.

Hanami finds its own rhythm and offers a textured depth to the insular nature of the territory it portrays. This debut film showcases an appreciation of passing time, which defines who we are and how our surroundings shape us. It ventures into a dreamlike and mysterious universe, a shifting world of childhood with numerous gateways.

Critics

« Hanami […] est une oeuvre au décor naturel sublime où se déploient les plages de sable noir et l’étendue du désert sauvage, le tout magnifié par un design sonore créant une atmosphère captivante. »
