Synopsis

A poignant essay film about displacement

An autobiographical meditation on political conflict told through the perspective of director Lidija Zelović, who has for decades captured her life on camera. Traversing her experiences fleeing Sarajevo during the Balkan civil war and building a new life in Amsterdam, Zelović offers an urgent reflection on nationalism, identity, and the meaning of home.

A witty, smart, and emotional exploration of displacement and its causes which draws extensively from Zelović’s personal film archive. Through scenes of her childhood in Yugoslavia and her migration to the Netherlands, Zelović uses history—both personal and political—to frame contemporary unrest.

Lidija ZELOVIC

Lidija Zelović is a writer and director from the former Yugoslavia now based in the Netherlands. She is the creative producer at Zelovic Film, and has worked as an executive producer and researcher for the BBC and Channel 4. Known for documentaries, her first film, My Own Private War (2016) was the recipient of numerous awards. Home Game is her second documentary.
