Karan Kandhari is an Indian artist and filmmaker, born in the Middle East and mainly based in London, where he studied at University of The Creative Arts, Farnham Surrey.
Between 2010 and 2014, he wrote and directed United Howl, a trilogy of short films—Hard Hat (Winner: Audience Award Rushes Soho Shorts), Flight Of The Pompadour (Berlinale, Generations) and BFI-funded Sidney—about misfits, outsiders and loners, the shorts sharing themes as wel as deadpan sense of humour.
Beyond writing and directing, Kandhari is a multidisciplinary artist working with photography, collage and ink illustration. He attended the prestigious Yaddo Artist Residency in upstate New York at the beginning of 2020 to work on a graphic book about his Exile experience titled The Passenger.
Sister Midnight is his debut feature.
