Synopsis

A feminist blast in the Coptic community

In a village in southern Egypt, a group of girls rebels against society by forming a street theater troupe. Dreaming of being comedians, dancers, and singers, they defy their Copt families and the locals with their daring performances.

Filmed over four years, The Brink of Dreams follows the journey of these young girls on the path to becoming women. “Are you happily married? Don’t you think you were too young when you were wed?” Uncommon questions in some parts of Egypt but that the members of the Panorama Barsha troupe – from the Copt minority – dare to address. They, who dream of being stage directors, singers, or dancers, are filmed at a crucial turning point in their lives and in the urgency of their demands.
