The Eternal Memory (La Memoria Infinita)
Synopsis
Augusto and Paulina have been together for 25 years. Eight years ago, Augusto was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Renowned in Chile, this former cultural journalist was responsible for the creation of archives following the Pinochet dictatorship. Now, he tries to preserve his own identity with the help of his wife. Day after day, the couple adapts to the changes caused by his illness while relying on tenderness and humor.
By intertwining a grand historical narrative–that which Augusto Góngora recorded so precisely to prevent Pinochet’s regime from sinking into oblivion–and the deeply personal story of a man losing his memory, Maite Alberdi offers a reflection on the contrasting paths that our memories take. And a captivating story of unconditional love.
