A longform documentary set on the lengthy border of Bosnia and Croatia, The Landscape and the Fury dwells on scenes of landmines, forests, villages, and migrants to reflect on the traumatic residues of recent and ongoing history. A deeply haunting and evocative essay film which meditates on the remnants of strife, both visible and remembered.
With its static camerawork and sombre atmosphere, sequenced to the rhythmic changing of seasons, The Landscape and Fury encourages a series of sharp yet unhurried observations of the landscapes, inhabitants, and migrants trying to survive in these changing borderlands.

Nicole VÖGELE
Nicole Vögele is a Swiss director and journalist based between Berlin and Zurich, as well as a professor at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. She studied journalism at MAZ Lucerne and documentary filmmaking at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Her first feature-length film, Nebel (2014), won a special mention in the Dialogue in Perspective section at the Berlinale, while her second film Closing Time (2018) won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival. The Landscape and the Fury is her third feature-length film.
