Synopsis

A moving portrait of resilience and belonging

A moving portrait of resilience and belonging Director Rand Beiruty follows an energetic clique of teenage girls from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Kurdistan and Romania who have all fled to a provincial town in Germany. Over the course of four years, the girls share their stories, struggles, dreams, and hopes for the future. Together, they create a space where anything is possible.

An intimate window into the lives of teens as they come of age in a foreign culture. Beiruty’s film is a raw, moving and joyous look at a pivotal time in life which memorably gives the girls the chance to act out their dreams before the camera

Rand BEIRUTY

Rand Beiruty is a writer and director based between Amman, Jordan and Berlin. She is also the co-founder of Shaghab Films, a production company based in Amman. She holds a practice-based PhD from the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, and her short animated documentary Shadows (2024) premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. Tell Them About Us is her debut feature documentary.
