Jack ventures to remote New Zealand for the funeral of his estranged mother and meets her widow Jill. But his mother’s spirit returns to inhabit each of their bodies, instigating a life-threatening three-way nocturnal dance.
Samuel Van Grinsven is a New Zealand born writer and director based in Sydney, Australia. His debut feature film Sequin in a Blue Room world premiered at the Sydney Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature Film. It soon became a festival hit screening globally at festivals including Palm Springs International Film Festival, Outfest LA, TIFF Next Wave and Melbourne International Film Festival. In late 2019 the film was nominated for an AACTA award for Best Indie Film. Went Up the Hill is his second feature.
