Since the 2012 edition, the Festival has become competitive and awards the best international cinema in the feature (€10,000) and documentary (€5,000) film competition. In 2022, a new prize was added: the 2030 Award by Luxembourg Aid & Development (€7,500), which honours a work that falls within the scope of cooperation. Other awards include the Audience Award by Orange (no monetary reward) and, since 2023, the FIPRESCI Award (no monetary reward).

The young audience competition includes the Youth Jury Prize by Kinepolis (€2,000), the School Kids Award (no monetary reward), and the Kids Jury Award (no monetary reward).

The submissions are open until November 23rd 2024.

Terms and Conditions

Eligibility: Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to the Luxembourg City Film Festival. By submitting your film for consideration, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined below. To be eligible for consideration, your film must fall into one of the following categories: international feature fiction film or documentary. Please note that the Luxembourg City Film Festival does not accept international short films (films with a duration of less than 60 minutes) as of today.

To be considered eligible, your film must have been produced between 2023 and 2025.

For national submission only: Your film must have a connection with Luxembourg, either through its production or its director.

Payment: There is a submission fee of 30€ (for international submissions only) for international feature films. This fee is non-refundable.

Release: Your film should not have had a theatrical release in Luxembourg, Belgium, France, or Germany before March 16th, 2025. This applies to all types of films, including documentaries, feature films, and short films. However, if your film has been presented at previous festivals, it does not affect its eligibility.

Submission: To submit your film, you must provide a link to an online screener and complete the submission form.

Selection: The final selection of films for the Luxembourg City Film Festival will be made by the selection committee (Comité Artistique). Their decision is considered final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process. The rightsholders of selected films will receive notification via email.

Selected films may be eligible for following awards:

Grand Prix by ORANGE, Documentary Award by BGL BNP PARIBAS, FIPRESCI Award, 2030 Award by Luxembourg Aid & Development, Youth Jury Award by KINEPOLIS, The School Jury Award, The Kids Jury Award

Jury: The president and the jury members are selected by the Festival team. Individuals who have any involvement with the production or commercialization of a film in competition will not be eligible to participate as members of the jury.

Communication: The information submitted via this link will be used for communication purposes. Please note that the Festival reserves the right to make edits or revisions as needed.

Copyright: By submitting your film, you confirm that you hold all the rights to the film and its content. You also confirm that your film does not infringe upon any third-party rights. The Luxembourg City Film Festival will not be held responsible for any copyright infringement or legal issues arising from the screening of your film.

Technical Requirements: As a requirement for participation, you must provide a physical Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for your film. If the provided DCP is found to be non-functional, you will be expected to make the necessary corrections promptly. If, for any reason, it is not possible to correct the issue promptly, the Festival reserves the right to exclude the film from the programme.

Subtitles: Your film must be submitted for consideration in its original version with English subtitles.

In case your film is selected:

  • For films with their original version in French or another language: Please provide a copy with English subtitles as well as a list of dialogues in English.
  • For films with their original version in English: Please provide a copy with French subtitles as well as a list of dialogues in English.

Costs: The sender is responsible for paying the delivery fees and customs duties. DCPs should be sent to the Festival’s head office at the following address: 11b, Place du Théâtre, L-2613 Luxembourg

The Festival covers the costs of sending back the selected copies.

Insurance: The Festival provides insurance coverage for the copies from the reception until the moment of reshipping. In case of loss or damage during this period, the Festival’s responsibility is limited to the value of the copy. Only copies in good condition for projection will be accepted.

Withdrawal: If you decide to withdraw your film from consideration, you should notify the Luxembourg City Film Festival in writing as soon as possible. Once your film has been selected and the screening schedule has been announced at the press conference in February 2025, it cannot be withdrawn.

Acceptance: By submitting your film, you are acknowledging that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined above. If you do not agree with any of the terms and conditions, we kindly request that you refrain from submitting your film for consideration.
